A structural steel segment with a distinctive “I” or “H” shape is known as an IPE beam. These kinds of sections are called open profiles because, in contrast to solid or hollow rectangular sections, they are made up of parallel surface flanges joined by a web in the middle. IPE beams have exceptional resistance to tension in the longitudinal direction, as well as to compressive and flexural stress, thanks to this design.
Hollow structural sections (HSS) are the only steel profiles that can rotate more efficiently than IPE beams, but they are pricy and challenging to join with other profiles.
